Why Play?

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the first thing taken away is the opportunity to play.

Normal family activities are replaced with doctor’s appointments and treatments that leave kids with weak immune systems—which makes public playgrounds too dangerous to play on due to risk of germ exposure. A new backyard play structure not only provides a safe, germ-free place to play, but it also gives the child and family an escape from the reality of fighting pediatric cancer and a way to create happy memories together.
