Frequently Asked Questions

How many kids get diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. each year?

Each day in the U.S., approximately 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. That’s nearly 16,000 kids each year. Cancer does not discriminate; it affects kids from all backgrounds, ethnicities and socio-economic groups. That’s why Roc Solid’s vision is to one day build hope for all 16,000 kids diagnosed each year.

How do families receive Ready Bags and playsets?

We work with child life specialists and social workers at more than 100 children’s hospitals throughout the U.S. Nearly all of them distribute Roc Solid Ready Bags to families at diagnosis, and our playset program is currently available to families throughout the southeastern U.S.

What percentage of donations goes to your programs?

Impacting 16,000 kids and families a year is a big goal, but one we are determined to reach. So we strive to utilize every dollar possible toward growing and implementing our programs. We plan with the 80/20 rule in mind, meaning around 80% of all donations go straight toward our mission.

Can I volunteer?

Absolutely. We are always looking for extra hands at community events, our major fundraising events and Roc Solid projects. Visit our Get Involved page to learn more.

If you’re interested in volunteering regularly or leadership opportunities, please send us an email at info@rocsolidfoundation.org, and we’ll put you in touch with the appropriate team member.

I’d like to plan a fundraiser for Roc Solid. Where do I start?

First of all, that’s awesome! If you have something in mind, please send an email to info@rocsolidfoundation.org and we will put you in touch with the person who handles community events in your area.

Do you take donations of medical equipment or other items for kids and families in need?
We get this question a lot. And we are happy to ask around, but we will often refer you to another local organization that provides these types of resources to children and families. Let us know if we can point you in the right direction.
